WASHINGTON — Actress Loni Anderson, who played Jennifer Marlowe on the hit TV comedy “WKRP in Cincinnati” and was once married to the late Burt Reynolds, died after a battle with cancer .

New details about Anderson's cause of death were revealed weeks after she died in her death certificate obtained by TMZ , People , USA TODAY and other media outlets.

Anderson's death on Aug. 3 came just two days before what would have been her 80th birthday.

Her longtime publicist said at the time that the actress died at a Los Angeles hospital following a "prolonged illness."

Multiple outlets confirmed that the actress died of metastatic uterine leiomyosarcoma .
