LAS VEGAS (KLAS) -- The man accused of murdering a Las Vegas woman in 2020, who authorities in Mexico arrested last summer, is expected to return to the U.S. imminently to face charges, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.
Erick Rangel-Ibarra, now in his late 20s, is the only suspect in Lesly Palacio’s August 2020 murder. Rangel-Ibarra was expected to be booked into the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday.
He is accused of killing Palacio, 22, on Aug. 29, 2020. Police found her remains two weeks later near the Valley of Fire.
Las Vegas Metro police will hold a news conference about the investigation at 4 p.m.
The one-year delay follows extradition proceedings in Mexico. Once in Las Vegas, Rangel-Ibarra will face charges of murder and destroying evidence, which a grand jury
