The rumors of a Micah Parsons trade to the Green Bay Packers -- first reported by a certain new NFL insider on social media named Rickey Scoops -- turned out to be true.
AAAAAAAAA!
The pass-rusher and do-it-all linebacker is headed to the Pack after a prolonged gripe over his contract situation with the Dallas Cowboys, and now he's off to a team that's going to be immediate contenders. The Cowboys, meanwhile? This is one of those messy situations that Jerry Jones may come to regret down the road as a young defensive superstar will no longer be wearing the star.
As always, we're going to hand out some grades quickly for this one. Let's dive in:
Cowboys and Packers trade details
Cowboys get: 2 first-round picks and DT Kenny Clark
Packers get: Micah Parsons (who signed a four-year $188 million contract)
Packers trade grade
WHEW. This was the perfect move. The Packers were already a very good team heading into this season, among the contenders in the NFC with Jordan Love at QB, some solid WRs and a defense that felt underrated.
Now? It's a defense that's UPGRADED. Parsons brings with him the ability to drop into coverage and to make life miserable for qurarterbacks.
Forget the first-round picks. When you're contending, this is the move to make.
GRADE: A+
Cowboys trade grade
What else is there to say? Jones fumbled this badly. He should have paid Parsons what the young star deserved and called it a day. Parsons wanted to be there, but he couldn't continue without an upgrade.
Two first-rounders eases the sting a bit. Kenny Clark... fine? But Parsons might even be worth more.
GRADE: D-
