AMARILLO, Texas (KFDA) - Victims of crime and concerned citizens alike will soon have a modernized automated notification system at their disposal.

The Texas Constitution provides victims of crime with the right to receive notice as to court proceedings and the conviction, sentence, imprisonment, and release of the accused.

Currently, VINELink is the service used to send out these notifications.

But on August 31, Texas will move away from the legacy VINELink program to a new statewide automated victim notification system (SAVNS).

Crime victims will be able to create an account in the new SAVNS portal and customize their notification preferences.

This will allow victims to select the circumstances and modes of communication they are notified.
