GULF SHORES, Ala. (WKRG) — Gulf Shores Police are calling it a random act of violence. They are actively searching for the man they consider a threat to the public after a 60-year-old resident of One Club Apartments was assaulted while taking her dog out one last time before bed.

"She was walking her newly adopted dog around One Club apartments when she was approached by a male who demanded her dog," said Carl Wittstruck with the Gulf Shores Police Department.

When she told him no, she was hit in the face. "She sustained a cut in her forehead that required stitches," according to Wittstruck.

The man ran off but was later identified as 37-year-old Brandon Demarcus Harris, a man police consider homeless but who has been seen in the area.

"He's transient. He has several contacts involved
