The San Francisco 49ers signed former Clovis West quarterback Adrian Martinez to fill a gap on their depth chart following recent roster cuts.
Earlier in the week, the 49ers cut two quarterbacks, Carter Bradley and Tanner Mordecai, to meet the NFL’s 53-player roster limit.
The big picture: Martinez, formerly with the New York Jets, joins the 49ers as their third-string quarterback and will be part of the practice squad. • Martinez played college football at Nebraska and Kansas State and was part of the 2023 NFL Draft class but was not selected. • After the 2023 draft, Martinez spent the summer with the Detroit Lions before being picked up by the Jets in 2024. • With the Jets, Martinez alternated between the active roster and practice squad throughout the season and preseason. • T
