BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) -For generations of Americans, cars have meant more than just getting from point A to point B. They represent independence and freedom.

They also represent power and speed, and in Bowling Green, Kentucky, there’s one vehicle that outpaces the competition, the Corvette.

In 1953, the Corvette was first introduced to Americans as a show car at the General Motors Motorama in New York City.

Initially just a concept vehicle, the convertible produced enough public interest to warrant mass production.
