WESTFIELD, Ind. — The Westfield Police Department introduced its newest officer Thursday.
The department posted a photo on Facebook of K-9 Valkyrie, also called "Kiri," a 15-month-old Belgian Malinois that recently joined the force.
Kiri is trained and certified in drug detection, tracking and apprehension, the department said. She is partnered with Ofc. Robins, who completed a month-long handler course with the K-9 before she officially joined the police department.
"We’re proud to welcome Kiri to the team and look forward to all the great work this duo will do for our community!" the department wrote.
Kiri, who was imported from France, was trained by Ultimate Canine in Westfield.
