OWENSBORO, Ky. (WFIE) - While it may be important for law enforcment anywhere to know about the current threats posed by guns, it’s especially important for places like Kentucky.

ATF officials say its more lenient gun laws make it what they call a “source state.”

Law enforcement from the federal, state, and local levels came together for Crime Gun Intelligence Training hosted by the ATF.

During the event authorities learned about nationwide gun trends and federal firearm offenses.

Officials say cooperation at multiple levels will make it easier, and quicker, to find criminals and keep Owensboro safe.

Owensboro Police Chief, Art Ealum, spoke out about gun violence.
