SMITHFIELD – Two months out from its grand opening, construction workers have installed the flagpole flying the Smithfield flag at the East Smithfield Neighborhood Center, signifying its pending completion.
Smithfield Historic Preservation Commission member Robert Leach said the flagpole was installed to be historically accurate to its original position before the center’s renovations. Renovations were made possible by town funding and $1.8 million in grants from the American Rescue Plan Act, the Community Learning Center Municipal Grant program, the Learn365R I initiative, and Community Development Block Grants.
