WOONSOCKET – From the turf field to the head coach and even the helmets, there’s an exciting new look to this season’s Woonsocket High football team.

After decades of hosting their games at venerable Barry Field, the Novans will be playing a hop, skip, and a jump from their school to Cass Park, where the turf is down and the bleachers, lights, and scoreboard are up at the refurbished athletic complex.

The new head coach is Brett Coderre, who has been on the Novans’ coaching staff since 2016 and will be the third head football coach in the last four seasons from northern Rhode Island to make his debut on a new turf facility, joining Smithfield High’s Kyle Purvis last season and North Providence High’s Mike Tuorto in 2022.
