NORTH DAKOTA (KXNET) — Doctors told a Tennessee man he had just eight months to live and only a one percent chance of survival after finding a tennis ball–sized brain tumor. Four months later, his cancer was gone.

A new study says a few bites of broccoli a day could help lower your risk of colon cancer. Researchers looked at more than 639,000 people and found that eating 20 to 40 grams of cruciferous vegetables daily — that’s about a small broccoli floret to half a cup — was linked to a 17-20% lower risk of colon cancer.

The study, published on Aug. 11 in BMC Gastroenterology, was led by Bo Lai, Zhong Li and Junjie Li from Inner Mongolia Forestry General Hospital and the Second Clinical Medical School of Inner Mongolia University for the Nationalities in Yakeshi, China.
