SALT LAKE CITY (ABC4) — The University of Utah has announced a new policy to schedule classes outside of "primetime" hours in an effort to fix parking bottlenecks and other issues.

The University of Utah announced the change in an article by Provost Mitzi Montoya, and they also posted about it on Facebook and Instagram, to be met with over 1,500 comments, mostly negative.

Montoya wrote that the Office of Academic Affairs found that the majority of courses at the university are scheduled between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m., especially on Tuesdays and Thursdays. Early morning hours, late afternoons, and Mondays and Fridays are underused, and the university does not use Monday/Wednesday/Friday formatting for classes.
