FAIRFAX, Va. — Emotions ran high outside a Fairfax County School Board meeting Thursday evening as two groups of demonstrators gathered. One backing the district's gender identity policies, the other demanding accountability for explosive abortion-related allegations.

One rally, organized in support of Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS), brought out families like the Friths; who say the district's current policies allowing students to use facilities aligned with their gender identity have had a direct impact on their lives.

"We are here because we wanna make sure that the school board knows that we absolutely support what they're doing," said Jennika Frith, an FCPS parent.

For the Friths, the policy is personal.
