BILOXI, Miss. (WLOX) - While there were many events remembering the 20th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina on Thursday, one group focused on the immigrants who helped rebuild the Coast.

On Thursday evening, a prayer service at Our Lady of Fatima Parish Hall honored the men and women who immigrated to the Coast and helped rebuild what once was.

El Pueblo is a nonprofit organization that hosted faith leaders and community members for a prayer service. The organization is focused on aiding immigrants in South Mississippi. Board member Robert Avila says this is an important time for the community to take action and call state leaders amid recent mass deportations.
