MINOT, ND (KXNET) — Kids are getting hands-on with the great outdoors at a festival in Minot, learning everything from casting a line to firing a bow.
For 18 years, the North Dakota Game and Fish Department has hosted an outdoor festival, giving kids the chance to try new activities and learn skills they might never have experienced otherwise.
Local wildlife clubs gathered at the Game and Fish Pond at the Minot State Fairgrounds to teach youth about fishing, archery, waterfowl, upland game, and more.
The Berthold Sportsman Club set up a pellet-shooting range with targets for the kids, and President Kyle Morey said introducing these skills early is key to keeping outdoor traditions alive.
"It allows the kids to be able to start helping and asking parents," Morey said. "You might get som
