When the high school schedule came out, there appeared to be a marquee matchup in Week 2 — Wyoming Area at Dallas.

No doubt that could be the best game Friday night as all 12 Wyoming Valley Conference teams play. However, another game could be in the conversation.

Pittston Area’s impressive 46-9 win over Mid Valley in its opener puts the Patriots’ game with visiting North Pocono right up there. Both teams are 1-0.

Pittston Area hasn’t started the season 2-0 since 2011. The Patriots, though, went on to lose seven in a row. The victory over Mid Valley was their first season-opening win since 2019.

Here are three things to look for:

1. Pittston Area’s run defense: The Patriots held Mid Valley to 69 yards rushing on 18 carries, but Friday night’s assignment will be much together.
