GLENDALE, Ky. — We're still waiting for the outcome of a crucial union election at the BlueOval SK battery plant in Hardin County, Kentucky.
The United Auto Workers (UAW) have already claimed victory, but with plant employees in favor of unionizing leading by a razor thin margin of just 11 votes, the final result is very much uncertain. More than 1,000 workers voted in all.
The UAW is challenging 41 ballots, which have not been tallied, that could swing the majority vote.
Thomas Walling is one of those BlueOval SK employees whose votes are being contested. He works as a safety emergency response technician at the Glendale plant, which last week officially started producing commercial batteries to power Ford's all-electric 2028 F-150 Lightning.
