GLENOLDEN — By the time West Chester Rustin’s offense took the field in the fourth quarter at the South Avenue Athletic Complex Thursday, it had run only 10 plays all night.

At that point, the Golden Knights had snapped the ball just twice since the start of the second quarter. One of those came when Jimmy Toland broke loose for a 17-yard score on the first play of the second period to give Rustin a two-touchdown advantage.

And somehow, in one of those quirky high school football games where the math doesn’t make a lot of sense, Rustin’s offense jogged onto the field in the fourth up by 21, cruising past Interboro and on its way to a 2-0 start.

“I wish we could’ve run some more plays, take some more time off the clock,” Rustin coach Mike St. Clair said. “But I’ll always take the points.
