The state’s criminal justice programs are wide-ranging, from community safety, victim services and criminal corrections
Historically, much of the work on those critical programs goes on behind the scenes, in Denver, alongside most state government departments.
Earlier this month, however, the Colorado Division of Criminal Justice kicked off an “update and listening tour” in Grand Junction with subsequent stops across western and rural Colorado.
According to DCJ Director Matt Lunn, the initiative is a long-overdue effort to ensure the division is effectively serving all Coloradans — not just those in the Denver metro area.
“I went down (to Pueblo), and (a resident) said, ‘It’s just nice that someone from Denver came down,’ and I felt really bad at that moment, that she felt like people
