Each Monday, schoolmaster reenactors from the 1831 One-Room Schoolhouse lead walking tours of Mashpee, offering residents and tourists alike a unique look into the history of the town, from the walking perspective right in the very heart of Mashpee.
The tours guide guests through the center of town, beginning at the Mashpee Archives Building at 13 Great Neck Road, and including the Community Park, Veterans Memorial and One-Room Schoolhouse.
Three tours are offered each Monday at 11 AM, noon and 1 PM. Tour guides provide context for historic landmarks along the way, such as the War Monument or Mashpee’s Liberty Tree.
Ava Costello, chairwoman of the Mashpee Historical Commission, recently brought the Enterprise along on one of these historic walking tours through the town center.
