COEBURN, Va. – It’s hard to say what was most impressive for the Eastside Spartans on Thursday night as they opened their 2025 football season with a resounding 44-0 whipping of Wise County Central.
Was it that determined defense that held the Warriors off the scoreboard while limiting them to just 111 yards or was it that explosive offense that rolled up 450 total yards and pretty much did what it pleased?
You couldn’t go wrong with either answer as the crew from Coeburn was in complete control in front of a large crowd at Carl McConnell Stadium.
“Everything was clicking for us,” said Landry Carico, who was a force for the winning squad on both the offensive and defensive line. “It really was. When you go forward in a football game, that’s how you win.”
