TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA)— A tropical wave is expected to emerge off the west coast of Africa on Sunday, the National Hurricane Center announced.
Slow development of this system is possible due to environmental conditions as it moves westward to west-northwestward at 15 to 20 mph.
The system is expected to move across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic next week.
"A tropical wave off the coast of Africa maintains low-end chances of tropical development as it steadily tracks westward across the Atlantic. Environmental conditions look to potentially favor the development of this wave towards next week," Max Defender 8 Meteorologist Juliana Mejia said.
The chance of formation in the next seven days is 20 percent.
