Greensboro and Winston-Salem continue to be among the state’s worst cities for traffic crashes, according to newly released 2024 rankings by the North Carolina Department of Transportation.
On a (slightly) positive note, for the first time since 2021, Greensboro is not alone at the top — which actually is the bottom — of NCDOT’s annual list of municipalities with populations of at least 10,000.
Lumberton swapped spots with Greensboro after ranking second for three consecutive years. For 2024, the Gate City tied with Charlotte, the state’s largest city, at No. 2.
Winston-Salem, meanwhile, edged up one spot to become the fifth-worst city for crashes.
