Housing could be set to replace a former Balfron care home which was controversially closed.
Strathendrick Care Home was declared surplus to requirements by Clackmannanshire and Stirling Integration Joint Board – the body responsible for local health and social care – in 2021, as part of a wider reshape of rural care.
While the 12-bed care home was mostly used latterly as a respite centre, it had not initially been intended for that purpose and at one point had just one full-time resident.
Now, however, Stirling Council has lodged an application with its own planners seeking to demolish the home and build six new houses on the site off Main Street, at the junction of George Terrace and Lomond Terrace.
