Friends, family, and fans packed the VFW in Clear Lake on Saturday, Aug. 23, for a night of live music, food, and drinks in remembrance of father, grandfather, and local musician Dan Rish.
Affectionately dubbed "Lord of the Strings," Rish began playing music at age nine, and would continue to do so until his health was too poor to continue. Rish, a multi-instrumentalist and composer with a robust body of original work, is probably best known for his lifelong dedication to live music across North Iowa and southern Minnesota.
The benefit featured a silent auction and bake sale, with proceeds going to cover Rish's funeral expenses. Rish's friend, Nicki Dutcher, helped organize the event. Dutcher said the it took about a month to plan.
