WARWICK, R.I. (WPRI) — Students in Warwick had their first day of school Thursday, and William McCaffrey is starting his first year as the district's superintendent.
He told 12 News he has several priorities on the table, but connecting with the community is one of his first goals.
"My focus is going to be to spend the first 60 days getting out, meeting everyone, building trust, see what's working well at schools, see where we need some help at schools, and then sitting down and adjusting our strategic plan accordingly to have a student-first focus," said McCaffrey.
He said the district is tackling several challenges, including financial oversight by a state budget commission.
