About 780,000 Ryobi electric pressure washers are being recalled across the United States and Canada due to a risk of explosion and impact injuries. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall on Thursday (August 28), citing that the capacitor in the pressure washers can overheat and burst, ejecting parts forcefully. This poses a serious risk to users and bystanders.

The recall affects models RY142300 and RY142711VNM, which were sold at Home Depot and Direct Tools Factory Outlet stores , as well as online, from July 2017 to June 2024. Approximately 764,000 units were sold in the U.S. and 16,000 in Canada. The washers, priced between $300 and $400, are green with a spray nozzle, detergent tank, and storage for accessories.
