Doug King revealed recently that he hopes to put the “icing on the cake” of Coventry City’s summer transfer business.
The Sky Blues owner has, so far, enabled Frank Lampard to add three players in goalkeeper Carl Rushworth and full-backs Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Miguel Brau – all signing earlier in the summer. But the head coach is still hopeful of adding more strength in depth to his squad before Monday’s 7pm transfer deadline.
Lampard’s priority is at the back where he’s keen to add a centre-half to replace Luis Binks, who was sold to Brondby in July. City have so far had three bids for Hull’s Charlie Hughes turned down, the latest for a reported £10million and fans will be eager to see if the club will go back in with an improved offer in an attempt to get the Tigers to sell.
