A 20-year cold case has been solved after human remains that were found earlier in 2025 this have been identified.

Chattanooga police say a human skull was found near the Noah Reid Road train tracks by Shallowford Road.

Crime scene investigators at the site were able to determine that the skull belongs to Marland DeWayne Jones.

Jones disappeared in June of 2005 and was featured by Local 3 News in a 2008 Crime Stoppers report.

His sister and estranged wife reported him missing.

Jones’ family said at the time of his disappearance that it was out of character for him to not keep in touch.

The cause of his disappearance is still unknown.
