LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) – An orthopedic surgeon who was a fixture on the sidelines of sporting events in the Louisville area for nearly 50 years has died.
Dr. Walter E. Badenhausen died overnight at the age of 96.
During his long career, Badenhausen treated thousands of athletes at the high school, college and professional levels.
For his dedication, the man simply known as “Dr. B” was inducted in the Bellarmine University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2011. The athletic training rooms at Bellarmine and the Louisville Bats are named in his honor.
Badenhausen formed his practice in January 1969 with Dr. Rudy Ellis, Sr., and Dr. Harry Goldberg. The practice not only treated athletic injuries, but those suffered by people in all walks of life.
