The alliance, formed earlier this year after the U.S. imposed tariffs on most Canadian goods, brings together nearly 40 Canadian border communities.

With U.S. tariffs rising to 35 per cent as of Aug. 1, the new report emphasizes tourism promotion, stronger collaboration with Ottawa, and a greater role for border mayors in shaping trade policy with Washington.

“The introduction of these tariffs threatens to disrupt vital supply chains impacting cities and communities across the country, and therefore demands a Canada-first approach,” said Mayor Brenda Locke of Surrey, B.C., in the report.
