MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - Parts of two downtown Madison streets will be closed for months on Tuesday for a utility project, city officials announced.
Starting at 7 a.m. on Sept. 2, East Main Street and South Hancock Street will be closed as crews replace underground utilities and reconstruct the road.
Construction is expected to be paused during winter and finished in the spring, officials said.
East Main Street will close between South Butler Street and South Franklin Street.
South Hancock Street will close between East Washington Avenue and East Wilson Street, along with the cul-de-sac south of Wilson Street.
Officials said East Wilson Street will not be impacted by the project.
