AUSTIN, Texas — As Texas Football returns this weekend, fans across the state are gearing up for more than just the game. It’s the cheers, the crowds and the unmistakable sound of the University of Texas Longhorn Band.

For the Dove family, that music has always meant just as much as the football itself.

Three generations of the Dove family have marched, played and celebrated in the Longhorn Band, forming a legacy that spans nearly 70 years. Their connection to the University of Texas isn’t just about being fans in the stands — it’s about being part of the performance.

“My first costume growing up was a UT cheerleading outfit, when I was like, 1 year old,” said Lauren Dove, the third generation to don the burnt orange uniform.
