The Cape Cod Museum of Natural History in Brewster will present the first of the Silver Science Speaker Series events, “Frontiers in Cooperative Ocean Monitoring,” on Thursday, September 4, at 1 PM.

Dr. George Maynard of NOAA Fisheries, Melissa Sanderson of the Cape Cod Commercial Fisherman’s Alliance and Scott Ellis of Lowell Instruments, LLC will share their large-scale collaborative efforts to monitor ocean conditions from Maine to New Jersey. Their project, The Environmental Monitors on Lobster Traps and Large Trawlers program, outfits fishing vessels with oceanographic sensors to collect bottom-water temperature data across the northeast United States continental shelf.
