COLCHESTER, Vt. (ABC22/FOX44) - Thursday was 'Feed A Family Day' at the Champlain Valley Fair, where 2,500 people showed up to donate non-perishable food items for free entry and a good cause.

Anyone that came Thursday, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., could not only get free entry with two non-perishable items, but also $10 dollars off a ride bracelet with four or more items.

ABC22/FOX44 partnered with the fair that day, all for the benefit of Vermont Foodbank. Champlain Valley Fair has supported the foodbank for ten years, collecting over 71,000 pounds of food in the process.

This year, roughly 9,218 pounds of food were donated, breaking the previously-held donation record of about 8,900 pounds.
