BOISE, Idaho — A group of community members in West Boise told KTVB time is running out to secure a library for the area after their proposal was left out of long-term recommendations for the city's library system.
"I recognize that this is our shot," Jennifer Gravel said.
Gravel is part of " Citizens for a Library ," a local group founded in 2023 to advocate for a new branch.
A consulting group presented its findings, which did not include the idea, to the Boise Library Board earlier this month as part of discussions about a new facilities plan.
Mark Salisbury, who started Citizens for a Library, said the area where he lives is "almost in what you would call an exact dead zone" for library access. The closest branches in Boise and Meridian are about 10 to 15 minutes away by car.
