Some North Saskatchewan River users in Edmonton are getting it half right by packing life jackets but then failing to wear them, say city park rangers, warning the consequences can be deadly.
The city reminds locals and visitors that life jackets or personal flotation devices (PFD) must be worn while on any floating vessel, motorized or not, within Edmonton boundaries, as per the public safety bylaw. Failure to do so may result in a ticket.

A life jacket/PFD can help prevent drowning in case of an emergency and ensure safety of first responders during rescues, the city said Friday.
Park rangers have issued 1,027 warnings for failure to wear a life jacket this year, said the Friday news release.
The North Saskatchewan can be unpredictable, with fast underwater curr
