Having dismissed Kat Von D as a defendant in a lawsuit brought by the ex-manager of Von D’s now-shuttered High Voltage Tattoo store who alleged she was wrongfully fired in 2020, a judge Friday took under submission a request by both sides to put the part of the case against the business on hold pending the outcome of the plaintiff’s appeal.

On Aug. 7, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Kevin C. Brazile agreed with Von D’s lawyers that there were no triable issues in plaintiff Stephanie Davidson’s case against the tattoo artist. The judge found that Von D is not the “alter ego” of High Voltage Tattoo and therefore cannot be found liable for the one cause of action Davidson alleged against Von D for retaliation.
