PHOENIX (AZFamily) — As the Federal Aviation Administration continues to work on deterring and prosecuting laser strikes against pilots, the agency released updated numbers showing that Arizona ranks among the top five states with reported incidents so far this year.

On Thursday, the agency reported 311 laser strikes in Arizona so far in 2025. In comparison, 697 have been reported in California, 557 in Texas, and 395 in Florida, marking the Grand Canyon State at No. 4.

The FAA said in a news release that it’s working through its Law Enforcement Assistance Program (LEAP) to identify those threatening national airspace and to prosecute those responsible for strikes that can blind or disorient pilots.
