FAIRFIELD, Maine (WABI) - In recent years, a man living in Connecticut has made annual donations to various causes in his hometown of Fairfield, Maine. This year, in honor of his parents, he decided to make a contribution that amazed many in the town.
“I think some of it was a little bit of shock and awe, as well as unbelievable gratitude,” said Fairfield Town Manager Michelle Flewelling.
Earlier this summer, the Fairfield Town Council accepted a donation of over $360,000 to go toward a new ambulance for the community.
The town doesn’t own an ambulance and relies on the private service Delta for transports. The department still performs emergency medical services on scene, but currently operates E.M.S. out of a modified pick-up truck.
“Well, it’s a huge difference,” responded Flewellin
