DULUTH, Minn. (Northern News Now) - A missing Minnesota hiker was found dead on Wednesday.

Grant Gardner’s body was recently found on a high-altitude ledge in Wyoming’s Cloud Peak Wilderness.

That’s where the 38-year-old from Lakeville had been on a solo hike, but family hadn’t heard from him since late July.

The Big Horn County, Wyoming, Sheriff’s Office shared a missing person update about Gardner on Thursday.

According to the Sheriff’s office, a professional climbing team from North Carolina made a high altitude camp for the evening after summiting Cloud Peak on Aug. 26.

While making the camp, the climbers allegedly noticed a slight reflection a few hundred feet above them, beneath a ledge that appeared to be a backpack.
