Tributes have poured in for an Edinburgh student who tragically died at a reservoir earlier this week.

Ayan Ayyub Khan, 23, moved to Scotland from Maharashtra, India, in January to study Robotics engineering at Heriot-Watt University, reports The Record.

It has since been confirmed he died at Harlaw Reservoir near Balerno, on Tuesday, August 26.

Police launched a major search operation after reports of concern for a man in the water at around 4.55pm on Monday.

Divers, two water rescue teams, 20 firefighters and a coastguard rescue helicopter swooped on the scene but unfortunately were not able to locate him overnight.

Searches resumed the next morning, and his body was pulled from the water at around 11am on Tuesday.
