Alberta Union of Provincial Employees must decide whether to accept a mediated settlement by Sept. 3.

In late July, Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) and the Government of Alberta entered into an enhanced mediation process to resolve outstanding issues in the current round of collective bargaining for more than 23,000 front-line government services workers.

The mediator produced non-binding recommendations that included a general salary increase of three per cent each year for four years. The contract would span retroactively from April 1, 2024 to March 31, 2028.

AUPE members, who include sheriffs, correctional officers, administration, social services, Michener Services staff and more in the Red Deer area, will vote on the settlement between Aug. 29 until Sept. 3.
