STEELE, N.D. — The North Dakota Highway Patrol has identified the Bismarck man killed in a crash Thursday, Aug. 28, on Interstate 94 in Kidder County.
According to the Highway Patrol, Malachi Stein, 20, died at approximately 6:40 a.m. as a result of the crash. Stein was driving eastbound at a high rate of speed in the passing lane along the interstate near Steele when his 2012 Nissan Versa struck the rear of a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, the release said.
Stein was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The driver of the Subaru, Scott Johnson, 63, of New Meadows, Idaho, was taken to a nearby hospital with injuries that were considered to be life-threatening, the release said. He was wearing a seat belt.
