ATLANTA, Ga. - Jim O’Neill, a deputy to Health Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., will serve as acting director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Meanwhile, supporters lined up along the sidewalk across the street from CDC headquarters to cheer for three doctors who resigned from the CDC this week as the administration tries to oust Dr. Susan Monarez as CDC chief just a month after she was sworn in.

The administration wants O’Neill to replace Monarez, who is fighting her removal.

The situation has caused bipartisan concern as Kennedy pushes anti-vaccine policies.

White House spokesman Kush Desai said Monarez isn’t “aligned with” President Donald Trump’s agenda and refused to resign, so the White House terminated her.
