COLUMBIA, S.C. (WIS) - For years, South Carolina teachers have been pushing for better working conditions in their schools and classrooms.

Over and over, they emphasized to state lawmakers and leaders that poor conditions were a key factor forcing many of them to leave the profession, and the number of unfilled positions in classrooms across South Carolina crept upwards to unprecedented levels for several years straight.

Teachers scored major victories at the State House recently to secure changes, which many credited as a driver for educator vacancies beginning to drop , but now, some claim promises aren’t being kept.
