Washington ― Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib last week met with Secretary of State Marco Rubio, White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and others at the White House about seeking federal aid for the city and relief from the restrictions on immigration from Yemen, he said.
Ghalib said that, if his requests are approved by the Trump administration, then financial, infrastructure and public safety issues faced by Hamtramck would be "solved." The mayor spoke at a City Council meeting about his trip to Washington, which he paid for himself this time, he said.
