BOONVILLE, NY (WUTR/WFXV/WPNY) -- A Lee Center man has been arrested by Oneida County Sheriffs after he lost his handgun on a ride at the Boonville Oneida County Fair.

Sheriffs assigned to the fair responded to the report on Friday, July 25. Upon their arrival, it was learned that the handgun was found by an adult patron who was entering a ride. It was discovered that the handgun was also loaded; however, it was turned over to law enforcement without any injuries.

Sheriffs believed that the owner of the handgun -- later identified as 42-year-old Keith Ouderkirk of Lee Center -- had entered the fair with the gun, ignoring signage that said firearms were not allowed on the fairgrounds.
