Over 10 miles of the Angeles Crest Highway have reopened to the public in both directions between Interstate 210 and State Route 138 after the completion of emergency repairs, Caltrans announced Friday.

The closure began after the 2022–23 winter storms caused washouts, erosion and slope failures between Islip Saddle (post mile 64.1) and Vincent Gulch (post mile 74.7). Severe runoff undermined the roadway at post miles 65.29 and 66.34 and left guardrails unsupported near post mile 65.80, according to officials.

Repairs included rebuilding slopes, adding two retaining walls, replacing a damaged elevated cable-mesh drapery system, and installing new drainage and guardrails. The total cost of the repairs cost about $7.9 million.
